Winter Finches

There was an interesting article in yesterday’s Buffalo News.

“This winter may turn out to be a good year for bird watching. Early reports suggest that substantial numbers of what are often called winter finches may retreat here from northern boreal forests.

Among these visiting birds are a number of species that most of us rarely see: evening grosbeaks, pine grosbeaks, pine siskins, common redpolls, hoary redpolls, red crossbills and white-winged crossbills. Bohemian waxwings are often included in this category although they aren’t finches.”   { Read the rest of the article here…
